Becoming a member of the AlleghenyRiverstone Artist Co-operative

The AlleghenyRiverstone Artist Co-operative offers artists in all media the chance

to join with fellow artists in the pursuit of improving artistic capabilities and

 the opportunity to display work, on consignment, at the Red Brick Gallery

with the understanding that all Co-op members will commit

to spend volunteer time in the Gallery on a regular basis.

An artist interested in becoming a Co-op member may apply by submitting three original pieces of art to a screening by a jury panel appointed by The Allegheny Riverstone Center for The Arts.

Drop off time 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon

Pick up time 3:00 – 4:00 PM

Present three gallery-ready pieces of art completed within the last two years.

Both two and three-dimensional pieces are acceptable.

Two-dimensional works must be framed to a professional standard and wired for hanging.

Each applicant is assigned a number which is attached to each piece for the screening. Applicants are accepted by majority vote of the jury panel and will be advised of acceptance at the time of pick-up.

Following are rough guidelines jury members follow in evaluating submissions:

1. Consistency – Applicants must demonstrate consistent artistry. Consistency is best demonstrated by submitting three works in the same medium.
2. Visual Interest – Use of color, line, shape, form, texture, space.
3. Content – unique, interesting thought provoking, expressive
4. Craftsmanship
